Mastro Livi Razors

Since the early 80's, the Livis had already been making cold steel and fire-arms in their generation hometown of Foiano della Chiana, Arezzo, where the craft has been handed down for five generations. The latest among them is Luca, 27, who has inherited the title of "master" (even though he is the "junior" of the family) from his father, Lido, who earned the title himself in the 1980's from clients who acknowledged his skills at creating knife blades from scraps of steel and simple leaf-springs form automobiles. This creativity is the incessant and continual goal and vocation of Lido Livi who was born in Montepulciano in 1941. Lido would later move to Perugia where his father had a Knife-grinding business, and whereupon his father, Alfonso's death inherit and devote himself with passion to the knife-grinding business as well as to making Knives. The Shop is now situated near Perugia, at Ponte San Giovanni and hasn't lost it's traditional characteristics as it continues to sell professional, sportive and artistic Knives high in quality and master Livi's razor blades, in particular, are second to none. Luca, the son of Lido assures the continuity of the family tradition: as soon as he finished his obligatory studies, he joined his father's business to learn the family craft, where Lido's dream of carrying on his family tradition is becoming a reality.

Every straight razor created by Mastro Livi is a work of art, a true heirloom piece, recognized around the world not only for its beauty, but it's ability to shave. He uses ATS 34 stainless steel and Damascus stainless steels for his razors, while using gorgeous woods or briars, stag horn, elk horn, ram horn, mammoth ivory, and mother of pearl for the handles. Many of these same materials are utilized to make complete shaving sets which include the razor, strop and brushes.

Mastro Livi can create your choice of straight razor blade shape and width for your razor along with your choice of handle material and it's shape. If you desire, you can also order a matching straight razor handle and shaving brush handle. When you purchase one of the Maestro's straight razors, you will receive a certificate of authenticity and a DVD showing the Maestro at work.
